PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD MARCH 24, 2024

 

CARDINAL’S APPEAL IN-PEW:

We will hold our cardinal’s appeal in-pew on the weekend of April 6/7. We encourage everyone to give generously as you can afford. It is for a good cause and therefore let continue to support this fundraiser.

EASTER VIGIL:

On March 30th, 2024 we celebrate the Easter Vigil which marks the Resurrection of Our Lord Jesus from death at 8:00 pm. We will also have our catechumens who will receive their sacraments on this night. We will begin by lighting the fire from the park and procession. We have the RCIA candidates and their sponsors in the park accompanying the priests and the deacon. All the parishioners attending the Easter Vigil will be in church as the clergy, the catechumens, and their sponsors process behind the paschal candle.

RENEWAL OF MINISTRY COMMITMENT:

On Holy Thursday, as we celebrate the Lord's Super, we will have the renewal of our ministries' commitment. I am asking all those who serve in different ministries to make sure they are present for this important rite.

A BLESSED HOLY WEEK AND HAPPY EASTER:

On behalf of Saint Cecilia and Holy Agony Church, the staff, Deacon Hernandez, Father Godfrey Amobi and I would like to wish all our parishioners a Blessed Holy Week and an Easter filled with the joy of the Risen Lord. Again, Happy Easter!

HOLY THURSDAY:

We remind all our parishioners that we will have bilingual morning prayers at 8:00 am. There is no morning mass on Holy Thursday, March 28th. We will celebrate the Lord’s Supper at 7:00 pm. The procession of the transfer of the Blessed Sacrament for adoration will consist of the deacon and the priests, and the altar servers through the center and to the side altar of Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Personal adoration will end at 11:00 pm.

GOOD FRIDAY:

On March 29th we have bilingual Morning Prayer at 8:00 am followed by bilingual seven last words of Jesus Christ at 10:00 am. At 12:00pm we will have the solemn Procession from 106 Street and 3rd Avenue to Saint Paul’s Church. At 3:00 pm we will have the veneration of the cross and we will conclude the day with the solitude of Mary at 7:00 pm in the church.

EASTER FLOWER ENVELOPS:

The special envelopes for Easter Flowers will be given out by the ministers of hospitality at the back of the church. We truly appreciate your generosity and cooperation in making our church environment dignified for the liturgical celebrations.

OUR LADY QUEEN OF ANGELS SCHOOL: serves children Prek3 – 8th grade. Financial Aid and affordable tuition for all. Enrichment programs are available. Ms. Gina and the RCIA candidates thank you, so much, for doing a thorough cleaning of the church this past Friday. May the Lord bless you for the generosity of your time.

MOVIMIENTO MATRIMONIAL CATOLICO: will be holding its ninth congress. This year’s theme is united in love. The congress is open to all couples married or just courting you are invited to attend. The donation is fifty dollars per couple.

EASTER MONDAY: We will have one bilingual mass at 8:00 am on April 1st. The rectory offices will be closed on Monday, April 1st, 2024 and we shall reopen the offices on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024.

REGISTRATION IN THE PARISH:

I remind registered members to please use the envelopes for the offertory. Letters of reference, immigration, recommendation and sponsors are given to registered members who use their envelopes and are active in the parish. If for some seri-ous reason you cannot register please talk to the secretary beforehand.

Reconciliation Monday Date: Lenten Recon-ciliation Monday will be observed on March 25, 2024, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm and later on from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. All the churches will be opened for confession at the times indicated above in the archdiocese and the Dioceses of Brooklyn and Rockville Centre.

ANNUNCIATION: of the Lord On March 25, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Annuncia-tion of the Lord. Since it falls on Monday during Holy Week, its observance is transferred to April 8, Monday of the II Week of Easter.

THE SANCTUARY LAMP: for the month of April has been requested by Dolores Mena for the conversion of his son Jesus Alvarez Mena – through the intercession of Saint Augustine. May the Lord grant her this favor for his glory.

THE LAST SEVEN WORDS PRACTICE: There will be a practice of the Seven Last Words of Je-sus on Tuesday, 26th at 6:00 pm in the Church. For more information or any questions, please contact Father Godfrey Amobi, Deacon, or Ms. Coper.

THE CHAPLET OF THE DIVINE MERCY: We will be praying the chaplet to the divine mercy twenty minutes before all the weekend masses. We will do it on the week-end of April 6/7 which is the Sunday of Di-vine Mercy. We will continue with this prac-tice on all the weekends of April. Let us come together to implore the mercy of God on the whole world.
